Tapahtuman kuvaus: The aim of Introduction to the NATO Tactical Planning for Land Forces (APP-28) -course is to familiarize participants with the tactical level planning process of NATO land forces on a theoretical level.

- which different products are to be prepared at the different stages of the process
- the most important NATO terminology and concepts related to tactical level planning
- issues brought up in teaching discussions and is able to use them as part of planning.
Understand:
- the importance of the planning process as a whole and its different stages in the planning of a ground forces (NATO) tactical level operation
- the importance of the planning time cycle in operation planning (plans ->current)
- the differences between the chain of command and different options for management relationships (C2)
- can apply the learned information during the PLANEX design task of the advanced course.
- knows how to work as a member of the planning team
- can communicate in a foreign language (English), taking into account the different stages of the design process
Kohderyhmä: Reserviläiset
The course is intended for experienced staff trained reservists who are assigned in staffs in war time. The course is suitable for people who are interested in the planning process of NATO's tactical level land forces as part of developing their own professional skills. In the selection for the course, priority is given to persons who commit to work in the course as an assistant trainer and/or trainer in the future.

The main part of the course is taught in English, so good oral and written English skills are required to complete the course. Examples of the required level:
- NATO STANAG 6001 at least level 3333
- Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(CEFR) level B1 or C1
- General language qualification at least level 4; preferably at least level 5.
Keskeinen sisältö: The course is implemented as a multi-format teaching, which includes a remote session and a weekend-long teaching session. The remote course is implemented in the MPKMoodle learning environment, from which instructions are given separately to students accepted for the course.
In addition to the course, a separate PLANEX phase will be offered, during which the use of the APP-28 design process is practiced based on a given planning task. This optional phase will be conducted in October 2026 over two weekends: 3–4 October and 24–25 October.
The course's daily program is sent to the participants in the course letter no later than two weeks before the course. The course letter also contains other instructions and information important for participating in the course.
