Tavoite
After completing the course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the operating principles of the Volunteer Rescue Service (Vapepa) as a network of organisations cooperating with authorities
- Apply basic missing person search methods in ground search operations
- Operate safely and effectively under leadership as part of a ground search and rescue alert group
- Prepare appropriately for a search alert and act in accordance with given instructions
- Explain the structure and core functions of Vapepa and its role in supporting authorities
- Identify Vapepa activities and emergency groups in their own local area
- Communicate clearly about Vapepa activities to individuals interested in voluntary rescue work

The course is intended for anyone interested in the activities of the Volunteer Rescue Service (Vapepa) and especially ground search and rescue operations. This is a hobby where you might save someone's life!
Participants will receive a certificate upon completion. Continued participation in future search exercises is strongly recommended for all those who wish to operate as part of the emergency groups.

Shoes are not permitted in the classroom; be prepared to wear indoor footwear or socks. For practical exercises you need weather-appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear suitable for moving in terrain.

Guided practical search exercises in the field and in a building

If an accepted participant fails to attend without prior notice, the course fee will be charged in full.Registrations can be cancelled if there are at least 7 days remaining before the course starts. Cancellations can be made through your personal MPK card at koulutuskalenteri.mpk.fi. Closer to the start date, participation cannot be cancelled without a valid reason (e.g., illness, injury, or work commitment). Such obstacles must be reported by email to meripuolustuspiiri@mpk.fi.
